2015年11月18日,杜维明:中国要走出一条未来人类共同需要之路
由北京大学世界伦理中心与长江商学院联合主办的“儒商论域2015”于11月11日-12日在北京召开。会议主题为:良知,价值重塑与企业家。北京大学人文讲席教授、高等人文研究院院长,北京大学世界伦理中心主任杜维明教授出席并演讲。 杜维明表示,中华民族170多年来所碰到的困境,突出了科学和民主。所以西方所代表的理性以及自由的价值,法治、人权和个人尊严,成为人类多半都接受的价值。虽然有此价值,但还是没有办法面对刚刚提出的人类中心、工具理性、征服自然、个人为主所造成的两大困境:第一大困境是人和自然的关系,第二是人与人之间的关系、国与国之间的关系,种族、民族、文化之间的关系。 杜维明指出,中国源远流长的礼乐教化,使得人与人之间一种正常持续的互补、互信、互相尊重的理解是缺失的。我们注重个人尊严,但是如果一个社会不能够有基本的和谐或者基本的团结,这是极大的困难。现在所有人在推动人权价值的时候,一直注意到责任的重要性。如果只是讲人权,不讲责任,责任不作为我关注的课题,这是不可能的。 同时,他还指出,另外还要分开来看,假如没有自由,正义只是注重正义、注重公正,会异化成一种宰制性的权威:正义在我,这样世界上的冲突就很多。假如没有理性,我们的同情成为溺爱,又不合情又不合理。没有法律只有礼乐教化,没有法治自由是不可能的。没有个人的尊严,社会很可能变成“同而不和”的极权统治。以责任、以社会的秩序、社会的安定作为唯一的价值,而权利很难突出它的特殊的主动的价值。

本文来源:北大博雅好书 2015-11-16 编者按: 亨廷顿 1993 年提出的文明冲突论,现在看来似乎在变为现实:2001 年“9·11”, 2005 年伦敦地铁爆炸安,刚发生的巴黎恐怖袭击,那亨廷顿的预言对了吗?杜 维明先生指出不一定如此,人类的前途还是应该以文明对话化解对抗。 那该如何进行文明对话?杜先生指出:如果一个人有强烈的意念认为自己真 理在握,认为不需要对话,而需要宣传,希望改正对方的错误,那就是一种抗衡 和征服。对话的最后是“庆幸多样”(celebration of diversity),多样性是值得庆 幸的。比如,所有人一下都变成儒家,但儒家并不是所有真理价值的总汇合,这 个在我看来应该是一个悲剧,并不值得庆幸。 今日文章选摘自《文明对话的发展及其世界意义》一文(2002 年 8 月哈佛 燕京学社与南京大学在南京召开了“文明对话国际学术讨论会”,这是一个穆斯林 学者与非穆斯林学者的文明对话的学术讨论会。该文是会议发言记录),收录于 杜维明《一阳来复:新轴心时代的儒家资源》(即将出版,明年初,我们会推出 杜维明著作系列的另外五部。
