2012年2月24日,杜维明:儒学的机遇与挑战
主编手记 听说要采访杜维明,《侨报周刊》记者李琳主动请缨。她采访过杜维明多次,每次都有新收获。李琳介绍说,第一次去哈佛燕京学社见杜教授那天,他还为她讲《四书》。听讲的是几个哈佛学子,围坐在长桌边。那日讲的是《孟子》,杜教授安然坐着,一段一段讲解答疑。李琳在一旁听着,感觉时光仿佛倒流,而杜教授仿佛旧时的私塾先生,只缺了戒尺和长袍。那时候,谁又会想到,这位安详的老人就是名贯中西的大学者杜维明教授。杜维明1940年出生于昆明,少时随家迁至台湾,青年时代入读东海大学中文系,专攻中国哲学,尤其是儒学。后来哈佛燕京学社提供奖学金,杜维明得以来哈佛研究哲学,师从史华慈(Benjamin I. Schwartz)、杨联升两位教授。作为学者,杜维明教授在美国近40年的执教生涯中开创了许多个第一。他是哈佛大学东亚系第一位华裔系主任,也是哈佛燕京学社第一任华裔社长,更是第一位荣膺美国人文艺术科学院哲学组院士的中国学者。顶着如此众多的光环,杜维明教授在华语世界里已成为当世传奇,一位著作等身的名家,一位继往开来的大儒。而杜维明教授自己在访谈中却一再表示,像钱穆、唐君毅、牟宗三、徐复观那样的老师辈学者才算得上儒学大师,而自己还在一个学习的过程中。本文“启蒙与现代主义”部分参考了黄万盛著述《革命不是原罪》一书中《启蒙的反思:与杜维明的对话》章节。 受访人——杜维明 采访人——李琳协调人——黄万盛
