2008年1月25日浙江大学“学习社会与对话文明”杜维明与彼得圣吉对话(中英文) 彼得·圣吉与杜维明在浙大的对话:从文明对话到对话文明 ●人要学会包容,世界要学会包容,因为这个社会是多元的。 2005年11月12日,在浙大永谦活动中心,举行了一场高端对话——美国哈佛大学教授,浙江大学光彪讲座教授杜维明,国际著名的新儒学大师;彼得·圣吉,美国麻省理工学院博士,《第五项修炼》作者,世界十大最优秀管理者之一;前者研究儒学,后者研究管理,两人却不约而同地发现了共同的东西。杜维明很惊讶,像彼得·圣吉的西方学者,居然对东方文化里的东西也有很好的理解。儒学里有糟粕,有精华,那么,我们今天继承的到底是不是儒学里真正优秀的东西?彼得说,社会是一个系统,学习型社会就是社会的系统学,世界就像一个蛛网,是交织的,多元的,互动的…… 全球已像一个蜘蛛网彼得·圣吉:我自己的学术背景、特别是我学习的大学,研究的是系统科学和系统工程。我们现在越来越感觉到,尤其是通过因特网,全球就好像一个蜘蛛网一样全部交织在一起,复杂度自然越来越大。以我作为一个美国人来讲,我吃的东西、我的车、我用的东西,基本都来自于地球另外的地方,而不是美国制造的。我每天早晨吃的东西从世界各地运到我买的地方,都有2000英里之远。比如刀豆,近年来价钱已经在降,下降了大概75%。对于我这样的消费者来说,是一个非常好的消息,但作为生产商来说,是最不好的消息。现在咖啡也是一样,现在的售价已经是其成本的一半了。全球的互动性越来越明显。即使我在做学生的时候,也意识到这个问题。这种全球的互动和相互依赖已经愈演愈烈,但看看人类未来的生活,一般人的生活,已经变成了全球性的相互依赖,这不能不重视…… 我也意识到科技系统渗入到社会系统的种种现象。也就是系统的互相依赖性和复杂性,更重要的是它们已经进入了人的思维习惯、思想方向,这是20世纪我们面临的重大课题。我到了MIT(麻省理工斯隆管理学院)以后,找到了一个处理复杂系统的导师,发现工程系统和社会系统有极大不同。更领会到,人对社会的认知,构成了人创造世界的认知。集体智慧可能来自8个、10个思想者,这种思想完全超过个人思想。以全球食物系统来看,今天各个国家的政府官员、民间企业人员、工作者,了解到世界的粮食问题多么严重,但极少有人知道应该怎么做。所以,今天我来的一个重要的课题是来看大家对集体智慧的生成和影响的重要性,我现在非常坚信集体的智慧远远高于个人智慧。 比如我们今天关心的问题是一个社区作为整体,其智慧如何提高,这就是今天的对话的意义。另外,学习型组织怎样能提高集体智慧上,给大家做一个说明。至少在西方,人们还不很理解,学习型组织怎样提高社区整体的智慧。在我们的社区,很多人把它当作一种学科,但认识到关于人的远见、愿景却非常少。原因是人的远见、见识、愿景并不来源于科学,而是来源于艺术。以我的观点看,西方人有许多关于科学、工程的进展,但在人文方面的进展远远不够。比如20世纪著名的画家毕加索说,艺术品真正发生的那一刻,是这个艺术家真正的见识,是他信仰的愿望。从那一刻开始,他才开始了真正的创作。对于真正的人文系统创造来说,思维很重要;第二是创作的过程;第三是创作的方向。人都有想创作的冲动和想法,特别是一群人在一起,如果通过系统,能有原则地知道这些人创造的过程,很让人兴奋。强势的个人主义非常可怕 杜维明:一年前,有一个机会,我认识了彼得·圣吉先生,沟通之后我很惊讶,因为我从事中国哲学思想,从事儒学,却从来没有和企业家进行过深层次的对话。我们考虑的问题都含有人文的含义。了解了彼得·圣吉先生的思想后,我觉得关于团队学习、个人学习、系统思考、心智模式等等,学习型组织和儒家家庭成员很相像。我确实也认为这个社会相互沟通、相互影响越来越频繁,但是世界上最有影响力的心智模式,是西方18世纪启蒙运动带来的意识形态,这种启蒙心态是最有影响力的意识形态。不管社会主义、资本主义,都受到这样的影响。市场经济、民主政治、契约社会,自由、理性、法制、个人尊严,都是启蒙心态所衍生出来的。而启蒙心态,其中最大的盲点之一,就是对人的精神世界终极关怀照顾不够,因为它是强势的人为中心的主义,一方面是宗教精神世界理解不够,对自然有一种掠夺和矛盾冲突。第二大盲点是没有全球社群理念,虽然法国大革命的三大精神自由、平等、博爱为人所知,但没有突显。 土豆视频:https://video.tudou.com/v/XMTcwMzYzMjg=.html?spm=a2h0k.8191414.0.0&from=s1.8-1-1.2
